Certificate in Information Technology

The Certificate in Information Technology is a bridging programme for those who do not meet the entry requirements of the International Diploma programmes offered by Genetic Computer School.

Course Objectives 

This certificate course will give you:

  • an understanding of different computer systems, hardware, and software used in the modern business environment

  • an understanding of computer programs and program design (algorithms)

  • advanced skills in office applications

  • an understanding of different types of networks and their use in a business environment

  • a basis for going on to further study in IT

C1101 Office Computing This module provides lessons and topics on word processing, spreadsheets, presentation and databases applications.
C1102 Introduction to Computer Systems and Programming The module is one of the foundation modules in the Certificate of Information Technology, in which it allows students to understand the underlying theoretical concepts of computers, its structures, components, and organizations in order for students to eventually create good programs that will run efficiently and effectively.
C1103 Computer Networks and Administration This module introduces students to the components of a computer network, hardware, and devices use, its topologies and basic networking structure. It teaches students how to configure and maintain a local or wide area network. The student will also learn how to troubleshoot any networking problems.
C2203 Business Information Systems Business Information System provides a key understanding of incorporating the concepts of IT with Business. Today most organizations and enterprises utilize IT to support their business processes and operations, decision-making as well as to enhance their competitiveness. This course focuses on the different types of Business Information System and how they can be incorporated into business processes and operations.  It introduces ways to acquire and develop business Information System and a way to secure and manage the system.

  • GCE N Level or

  • 10 years of General Education or equivalent

Language:

  • Grade D at GCE N Level English or Equivalent

Minimum number of students that is required before a class commences: 5

Completion Criteria
  • Minimum 75% attendance for Local/ PR & Non- Student Pass Holders
  • Minimum 90% attendance for International Student
  • Must pass all the examinations and assessments for all module
